Finding My Voice by Going Silent
I've just released the latest episode of AlexUnmade —a silent black and white short film. No dialogue, no explanation, just creativity in motion.
This one felt very different to put together, and it came more natural than any of the previous episodes. Initially, there was color, and dialogue. While editing, I wanted to see what would happen when stripping away all the words and color entirely and just letting the footage and music carry the story.
The result is Lacuna.
There's something about working in black and white that forces me to see differently. Without color, I notice form, contrast, the weight of shadows. And I think here, it all flows together to tell a compelling story.
I shot this exclusively with the Lumix GH5 and Meike 25mm T2.2 and edited using Final Cut Pro and FilmConvert to capture that cinematic feel I've been going for lately. As my confidence grows in filmmaking, so does my ability to see the extraordinary in the everyday.
Enjoy the visual poetry.
