Light Studying
I've been fascinated by light lately. Not just as a part of filmmaking, but as a subject itself. Specifically, how different sources meet, blend, and create something new together.
This new short film, Confluence, follows a cycle of illumination. There's a rhythm to how light enters and exits our spaces, how it shifts throughout hours and seasons.
I shot this one with the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera (OG) and Meike 16mm T2.2. The editing process using Final Cut Pro and FilmConvert became about finding the natural tempo in these changes, the way illumination builds, sustains, and fades.
Working in color this time allowed me to explore how different light sources carry their own temperature and mood. Each type brings its own character to the same spaces.
Similar to last week’s film, there’s no dialogue here, just the meeting of natural and artificial sources throughout a day.
If this one resonates with you, I'd appreciate you sharing it. Each one of these films is building toward something larger I'm creating.
Thank you and enjoy!
